Giles Ashmead hands over ALFED Presidency

Powdertech Director, Giles Ashmead, performed his last duty as President of ALFED (Aluminium Federation) last week, chairing a meeting of the ALFED board. Giles has been President since May 2017, his close proximity to new technologies in metal finishing and his knowledge of the entire aluminium supply chain being of great value to the industry initiatives led by ALFED.

Giles said of his time as President,

“It has been challenging yet extremely rewarding to lead ALFED in representing the concerns and priorities of our industry throughout this period, which has, of course, been dominated by Brexit. ALFED is playing a very important role in helping government officials understand and appreciate the impact that Brexit will have on the UK aluminium industry, the complicated issues surrounding potential trade negotiations with USA and sanctions on Russia which could affect the supply chain. We have had internal changes too, including a new CEO, Tom Jones. We have relocated to more suitable office premises and have introduced a new management training course.  I can assure the next President, Clive Bush of Amari Metals, that he will derive great satisfaction from the role and will receive enormous support from the board and the organisation as a whole.”
